Program
Culinary Arts Boot Camp is a unique 8-week program where you will gain new skills, engage in self-growth, and find essential community resources in an environment of camaraderie that fosters personal success with fellow Veterans at American Legion Post 1.
Program Details:
- CABCV is a free 8-week Culinary Arts program focusing on the fundamentals of culinary arts, including recipe reading, mise en place, time management, knife skills, and kitchen soft skills. On-the-job work experience is paired with classroom instruction at Full Battle Rattle Deli.
- Direct instruction and hands-on experience as a line and prep cook trainee under an industry professional, with direct mentorship on kitchen management, kitchen safety, time management, and food preparation in a real-world setting at Full Battle Rattle Deli, located at American Legion Post 1.
- Participants receive certification as a ServSafe Food Handler, recognized by the National Restaurant Association.
- Participants take part in the National Restaurant Association’s Restaurant Ready program, where they acquire the skills, discipline, and confidence to start a job and stay employed.
- Optional enrollment in the Bridge Pre-apprenticeship program offered by the Colorado Restaurant Association is available for those seeking apprenticeship opportunities. Upon completion of the program, participants can enroll in a year-long apprenticeship.
- Uniforms and textbooks are provided. Housing referrals and other basic resources are available for those in need. Upon completing the program, participants receive their own knife set.
- Support with resume writing and job placement in the restaurant industry is provided.
- Veteran resources and support are provided based on participants’ needs.
